WELCOME!
We have spent the semester reading, discussing, thinking, workshopping, and writing. Each of us chose a piece of writing from the semester to share publicly, in this shared space. We hope our writing speaks to you in some way. Please leave comments if you like a piece of writing or if it inspires you to write back. We would love to hear from you!

BACKGROUND
The course is titled Feminist Writing & Rhetoric. We read feminist writing from a variety of genres, understanding that feminism is not one idea but instead includes diverse perspectives and approaches. We also wrote in a variety of genres to explore how feminist aims can be served through creative writing, academic writing, professional writing, and civic writing.

COLLAGE POEM by 2/3 of the class
On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, we wrote poems from a variety of perspectives, and then we pulled lines from every poem and put them all together. Five students were missing that night, so it’s not a complete poem, and it has not been well edited. But we did enjoy the way it seems to come together in some weird way!

In this tank of liquid that seems endless
My eyes, perpetual now, hold only the truth.
He snaps. He yells. He throws the cupcake across the table.
I was rocking about on the raging sea
Dressed like death, disguised as innocence.
I look out the big glass rectangle;
I try not to look but it’s inevitable.
The girls’ voices rise

Like armor on the whitest of knights or
like the dressings on a pig prepped for slaughter.
Jazzing it up until daybreak,
one place cannot contain my roaming:

So much for true love.
